The Palestinian question from 1948 to the present - rebellion, the question of political representation and the prolonged closure of the horizons of political solution.
The lecture will offer an overview of the key events and processes of the modern history of Palestine from 1948 to the present.
The lecture is conceived as an interweaving of geopolitics, the role of Arab states and the long-term consequences of the Palestinian revolution between 1967 and 1982. Particular attention will be paid to the development and change of the Palestinian political representation at individual historical stages, particularly during the Palestinian revolution, while critically addressing its successes and long-term limitations. In the context of these developments, the appearance and role of Hamas will also be explained. On this basis, the lecture will conclude with an analysis of the contemporary situation in Occupied Palestine, with a historical overview serving as a starting point for understanding the current situation of Palestine under Israeli occupation. The lecture will be intertwined with a personal reflection from the last journey through Palestine this October.
Dr. Ziga Smolic (historian, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Faculty of Arts Univeez fake in Ljubljana) is engaged in research on Yugoslav foreign policy, its connections with the countries of the Middle East and the contemporary history of the Middle East region, with special emphasis on the Palestinian question.
Palestinsko vprašanje od leta 1948 do danes - upor, vprašanje politične reprezentacije in dolgotrajno zapiranje obzorij politične rešitve.
Predavanje bo ponudilo pregled ključnih dogodkov in procesov sodobne zgodovine Palestine od leta 1948 do danes.
Predavanje je zasnovano kot preplet geopolitike, vloge arabskih držav ter dolgoročnih posledic palestinske revolucije v obdobju med letoma 1967 in 1982. Posebna pozornost bo namenjena razvoju in spremembam palestinske politične reprezentacije v posameznih zgodovinskih fazah, zlasti v času palestinske revolucije, ob kritični obravnavi njenih uspehov in dolgoročnih omejitev. V okviru teh dogajanj bo razložen tudi nastop in vloga Hamasa. Na tej podlagi bo predavanje sklenjeno z analizo sodobnih razmer v okupirani Palestini, pri čemer bo zgodovinski pregled služil kot izhodišče za razumevanje aktualnih razmer Palestine pod izraelsko okupacijo. Predavanje bo prepleteno z osebno refleksijo iz zadnje poti v letošnjem oktobru po Palestini.
Dr. Žiga Smolič (zgodovinar, Center za bližnjevzhodne študije Filozofska fakulteta Univeezwe v Ljubljani) se raziskovalno ukvarja z jugoslovansko zunanjo politiko, njenimi povezavami z državami Bližnjega vzhoda ter s sodobno zgodovino bližnjevzhodne regije, s posebnim poudarkom na palestinskem vprašanju.
