In her work, pianist and composer Kaja Draksler moves between composition and improvisation, capturing from different styles, spaces and historical periods.
After studying at the secondary school of music and ballet (jazz Department) and the Diocesan classical gymnasium, she moved to the Netherlands, where she completed an undergraduate degree in jazz piano and a postgraduate degree in classical composition. In Amsterdam, she became an active member of the rich improvised music scene. Since her solo debut in 2013, she has been performing intensively in Europe and around the world with her own projects.

In addition to solo programs, he leads his own octet (with domicile in Amsterdam), he is part of the trio Punkt.Garden.Plastik (with domicile in Berlin), of the International Quartet Hearth, and also plays in the duos Czajka & Puchacz, to Pianos, Feecho, Susana Santos Silva / Kaja Draksler and Terrie E / Kaja Draksler. She is a member of the interdisciplinary group I/O and the collective doek, she also co-curates the Suture Soven festival. He mainly works as a composer with his own ensembles, and occasionally writes on request: Looptail Ensemble, Sturi Amucuartet, EMJO, Doek/Tricentric Foundation, Metropole Orchestra, Big Band RTV Slovenia, Italian Instabile Orchestra, etc..

Kaja is interested in finding ways to combine composition and free improvisation using different structures and musical logics. In the spirit of Dutch jazz/improvised musical heritage, she is attracted by the idea of erasing stylistic and historical musical boundaries and discovering personal expression and language through composition and improvisation.

Cycle 10 / 100% announces 5 sound trips in the exceptional ambience of the export tunnel Sitarjevec Lithium Mine! The cycle will feature 5 established Slovenian creators of contemporary experimental music. Each of them will perform a unique – site-specific – concert or sound improvisation in the natural space of the mine tunnel, leaning on the sound specifics provided by the room, in which there are constant 10 C and 100% humidity.

Pianistka in skladateljica Kaja Draksler se v svojem ustvarjanju giblje med kompozicijo in improvizacijo, pri tem pa zajema iz različnih slogov, prostorov in zgodovinskih obdobij.
Po študiju na Srednji glasbeni in baletni šoli (jazz oddelek) in Škofijski klasični gimnaziji se je preselila na Nizozemsko, kjer je končala dodiplomski študij jazz klavirja in podiplomski študij klasične kompozicije. V Amsterdamu je postala aktivna članica bogate scene improvizirane glasbe. Od njenega solo prvenca leta 2013 intenzivno nastopa po Evropi in drugod po svetu s svojimi avtorskimi projekti.

Poleg solističnih programov vodi svoj oktet (z domicilom v Amsterdamu), je del tria Punkt.Vrt.Plastik (z domicilom v Berlinu), mednarodnega kvarteta Hearth, igra pa tudi v duih Czajka & Puchacz, To Pianos, Feecho, Susana Santos Silva / Kaja Draksler in Terrie Ex / Kaja Draksler. Je članica interdisciplinarne skupine I/O in kolektiva Doek, so-kurira tudi festival Suture Soven. Skladateljsko se posveča predvsem lastnim zasedbam, občasno piše tudi po naročilu: Looptail Ensemble, Sturi Quartet, EMJO, Doek/Tricentric Foundation, Metropole Orchestra, Big Band RTV Slovenija, Italian Instabile Orchestra idr..

Kajo zanima iskanje načinov, kako kombinirati kompozicijo in prosto improvizacijo z uporabo različnih struktur in glasbenih logik. V duhu nizozemske jazz/improvizirane glasbene dediščine jo privlači ideja brisanja slogovnih in zgodovinskih glasbenih meja ter odkrivanja osebnega izraza in jezika skozi kompozicijo in improvizacijo.
