Dr. Joze Bavcon received his PhD from the Department of biology at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana. From 1986 to 1994 he was employed at the National Institute of biology, and since then he has been head of the Ljubljana Botanical Garden.
Dr. Blanka Ravnjak received her PhD from the Biology Department of the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana and is employed as a researcher in the Botanical Garden.
Čeprav Carl Linné nikoli ni potoval v trope, se je z eksotičnimi rastlinami odlično spoznal. Njegova zvedavost ga je pripeljala do botanika Georga Clifforda, direktorja Vzhodnoindijske družbe, kjer je postal odgovoren za botanični vrt. Ta družba je uvažala številne eksotične rastline, ki so prihajale v botanične in premožne vrtove, kar je Linnéju omogočilo, da je številne rastline videl prvič. dr. Jože Bavcon je doktoriral na Oddelku za biologijo Biotehniške fakultete v Ljubljani. V letih 1986 do 1994 je bil zaposlen na Nacionalnem inštitutu za biologijo, odtlej pa je vodja ljubljanskega botaničnega vrta.
dr. Blanka Ravnjak je doktorirala na Oddelku za biologijo Biotehniške fakultete v Ljubljani in je kot raziskovalka zaposlena v Botaničnem vrtu.
