An exciting biography of the Russian writer Eduard Limonov, known for his turbulent private life, surprising political transformations and moves between the Soviet Union, Europe and the United States.
Eduard Limonov (1943-2020) was a lot in life: a writer, poet, political leader, punker, revolutionary, outcast, bully, war agitator, lover of beautiful women and even a butler to a millionaire in Manhattan. All this life is still shrouded in mysticism today, because we know the most about it precisely thanks to the writer's own mythologizing. In Kirill Serebrenikov's film, we follow his path from the Soviet Union to the United States, where he lands on the road, but a happy coincidence sends him to Paris, and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, back to Russia, where he forms the National Bolshevik party. The Film was adapted from the template of author Emmanuel Carrero's 2011 biographical novel lemons.
Ben'chisha ' has never had such a complex and contradictory role as Limonov's, but it has proven itself through a transformation, extremely convincing in showing how destructive narcissism can turn romantic despair into something uglier and more somber depressing. His game is like a fascinating slow-motion recording of a car crash: fate written down to doom, a majestic swirl all the way to the crashed end.

Eduard Limonov (1943–2020) je bil v življenju marsikaj: pisatelj, poet, politični voditelj, punker, revolucionar, izobčenec, nasilnež, vojni hujskač, ljubitelj lepih žensk in celo butler milijonarju na Manhattnu. Vse to življenje je še danes zavito v mistiko, saj o njem največ vemo prav po zaslugi pisateljevega lastnega mitologiziranja. V filmu Kirila Serebrenikova sledimo njegovi poti iz Sovjetske zveze v ZDA, kjer pristane na cesti, a ga srečno naključje napoti v Pariz, po padcu berlinskega zidu pa nazaj v Rusijo, kjer ustanovi Nacionalno boljševiško stranko. Film je bil posnet po predlogi biografskega romana Limonov avtorja Emmanuela Carrera iz leta 2011.
Ben Whishaw še nikoli ni imel tako kompleksne in protislovne vloge, kot je Limonov, a se je izkazal s preobrazbo, skrajno prepričljivo v prikazu, kako lahko uničujoč narcisizem romantični obup sprevrne v nekaj gršega in bolj mračno depresivnega. Njegova igra je kot fascinanten počasen posnetek avtomobilske nesreče: usoda, zapisana pogubi, veličastno vrtinčenje vse do strmoglavega konca.
