On Wednesday, 9. in September 2026 at 18. uri is invited to the presentation of the thriller How to play chess in the dark: a beginner's Guide to the new novel by Bostjan Trohe - Kara. Dan Podjed will talk to the author at Beletrina's bookstore in Ljubljana.
Roman how to play chess in the dark? - The beginner's guide, inspired by the author's experiences, is a portrait of the destructive ambition of a little man and the cruel depravity of the world, to which we close our eyes so that we can sleep peacefully for at least another night before we can no longer close our dead eyes. It is the story of a climber who had everything, but wanted more, because of which he involuntarily found himself on a chessboard, where the pieces are moved by people from a gloomy background invisible to everyone. It is a story about a chess piece, about a peasant from the periphery of the world who wanted to escape from the chessboard and become a grandmaster. But he stumbled in the dark, leaving behind tears, suffering, disappointment, despair, death. The thriller will guide the reader through the labyrinths of Cairo, the avenues of Paris, the corruption of Brussels, the tragedy of Africa and the heat of Istria, where the fates of the ambitious team, the gentle Nina and the brutal Joburg will collide, weaving a tense story with many twists and mysteries.
Bostjan Troha-Karo (1969) began his creative career in the mid-nineties, when, together with the French writer Stephen Carri 6ver, he adapted some classic works into the medium of video games: from the Ring of Nibelungo by Richard / Faust Johann Goethe, as well as many novels by the Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho and the film Hannibal. He continued to adapt films and series for games, including Ghostbusters, The E Amampendables, and Prison Break, where he collaborated with the production house 20th centur / FO/. At the same time, he wrote some original scripts based on which games were made, such as Marlo Paul Briggs for Microsoft. He intertwined creative work with business. He is currently torn between Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where he deals with threat analysis, cybersecurity and investments in projects where the interests of superpowers and local dignitaries are tainted.

V sredo, 9. septembra 2026 ob 18. uri vabljeni na predstavitvi trilerja Kako igrati šah v temi: Priročnik za začetnike novega romana izpod peresa Boštjana Trohe - Kara. Z avtorjem se bo v Beletrinini knjigarni v Ljubljani pogovarjal Dan Podjed.
Roman Kako igrati šah v temi? – Priročnik za začetnike, ki so ga navdihnila avtorjeva doživetja, je portret uničujoče ambicije malega človeka in surove izprijenosti sveta, pred katerim si zatiskamo oči, da bi lahko mirno spali vsaj še eno noč, preden mrtvih oči ne bomo mogli več zapreti. Je zgodba o povzpetniku, ki je imel vse, a je hotel še več, zaradi česar se je nehote znašel na šahovnici, kjer figure premikajo ljudje iz mračnega ozadja, nevidnega slehernikom. Je zgodba o šahovski figuri, o kmetu s periferije sveta, ki je želel pobegniti s šahovnice in postati velemojster. A se je v temi spotikal in za seboj puščal solze, trpljenje, razočaranje, obup, smrt. Triler bo bralca vodil po labirintih Kaira, avenijah Pariza, korupciji Bruslja, tragediji Afrike in vročini Istre, kjer bodo trčile usode ambicioznega Tima, nežne Nine in brutalne Joburg ter spletle napeto zgodbo z mnogoterimi preobrati in skrivnostmi.
Boštjan Troha-Karo (1969) je svojo ustvarjalno kariero začel v sredini devetdesetih let, ko je skupaj s francoskim pisateljem Stephenom Carrièrom nekaj klasičnih del priredil v medij videoiger: od Nibelunškega prstana Richarda Wagnerja do Fausta Johanna Goetheja, pa tudi mnoge romane brazilskega pisatelja Paula Coelha in film Hannibal. Nadaljeval je s priredbami filmov in serij za igre, med drugim Ghostbusters, The Expendables in Prison Break, kjer je sodeloval s produkcijsko hišo 20th Century Fox. Obenem je napisal nekaj originalnih scenarijev, po katerih so bile narejene igre, kakršna je denimo Marlow Briggs za Microsoft. Ustvarjalno delo je prepletal s poslovnim. Trenutno je razpet med Evropo, Bližnjim vzhodom in Afriko, kjer se ukvarja z analizo groženj, kibernetsko varnostjo in investicijami v projekte, kjer se tarejo interesi velesil in lokalnih veljakov.
