Together with the Raum Au Gallery, within the framework of the Arte Utile Journey project, we invite you to the opening of the Aphra Tesla: Intangible Cultural Heritage exhibition, which will take place on Friday, 13. in June 2025, at 18.00 at the Raum Au Gallery, Partizanska pot 13, Slovenj Gradec.
The artist Aphra Tesla will present the Eau de Parfum: raum AU as part of the presentation of her research on intangible cultural heritage, which she carried out during the artist's residency traveling through Arte Modultil . The creative impulse for this work came from the spirit of the artist Pino Poggi, who still resides in his studio, gallery and city.
At the exhibition at the Raum AU gallery, visitors will also be able to get to know the artist's creative practice, which is methodically archived on the online platform Hu Musicportal . The central character of the platform is the cat Hu Animttrl – an" intermediological " personality and the artist's alter ego-who monitors, records and analyzes current social phenomena with Lucid irony.
Aphra Tesla has been developing its art system since 2011 under the name Aphra Tesla Operating with the Animalstem, and its latest transformation is titled operating system: transversal si.zif .
Parfum Eau de Parfum: raum AU can be understood as an intangible portrait of the artist. Aphra Tesla pays tribute to the work and character of Pino Poggi with this subtle gesture. Like Hu Tangtrl, she approaches carefully, almost respectfully – she realizes that the atelier is an extremely intimate space, a safe haven that the uninitiated do not have access to.
The artist protects his studio because it is the only space in which he can create – a space where every thing carries its function and meaning. It is a hortus conclusus, an enclosed garden, a consecrated place with its own order and internal logic. All these details make up a system that is a mirror of the artist's thoughts and inner world. The studio is like a presbytery in a church-a place where man is closest to the divine. Like Moses before a burning bush. The studio is a symbolic self-portrait.
At the opening of the exhibition, Aphra Tesla will also present her poetry.
> > Aphra Tesla is a Slovenian artist, after whom the four-year award for Intermedia achievements of the festival Kibli>, BELI APHROID, is named. Aphra Tesla is a visual artist, poet, activist, composer, sound architect and interdisciplinary artist. He lives and works in Maribor, where he also works in the contexts of the Transnational guerrilla art school GT22.
> > Research residency traveling through Arte Utile was created in cooperation with the NGO in the public interest raum AU, the Carinthian gallery of Fine Arts and the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
The residence was founded in 2022, when Tadej Pogacar and Tobias Putrih started exploring the concept of Arte Utile. In 2023 they were joined by Vesna Bukovec and Istvan isht Huzjan, and a year later by Tomaz Furlan, Polonca Lovshin and Heinz Schutz. In 2025, Pino Poggi's work is studied in depth by Aphra Tesla and Daisy Potrch.
Each artist or researcher develops his own interpretation of Poggi's oeuvre within the residency, which he collects in an accompanying volume. There are collected insights, supported by photographs and documentation, which the researcher gets to through direct work in Poggi's studio. The presentation of research findings can go beyond the written form and extend into an exhibition, performance, reading, lecture, concert or other way of interacting with the public.
The goal of the residency is to establish an open, imperfect relationship between the work of two artists or researchers. The special value of the program lies in the unpredictability of the research process, which can lead to the emergence of a completely new work of art.
The journey through the AU introduces a new, hybrid model of museum-gallery, curatorial and artistic practice, with which we rekindle interest in the idea of Arte Utile and social aesthetics – both among the professional and the general public. Just as in the context of Poggi'S AU process it is the utilist who initiates the idea and with it activates the response of the audience, in the broader context it is the residence's job to act as a primus agent – the one who gives the diagnosis and initiates the artistic reflection.
Skupaj z Galerijo raum AU vas v okviru projekta Popotovanje po Arte Utile vabimo na odprtje razstave Aphra Tesla: Nesnovna kulturna dediščina, ki bo v petek, 13. junija 2025, ob 18.00 v Galeriji raum AU, Partizanska pot 13, Slovenj Gradec.
Umetnica Aphra Tesla bo v okviru predstavitve svoje raziskave o nesnovni kulturni dediščini, ki jo je izvedla med umetniško rezidenco Popotovanje po Arte Útil , predstavila parfum Eau de Parfum: raum AU . Ustvarjalni impulz za to delo je izšel iz duha umetnika Pina Poggija, ki še vedno biva v njegovem ateljeju, galeriji in mestu.
Na razstavi v galeriji raum AU bodo obiskovalci lahko spoznali tudi umetničino ustvarjalno prakso, ki je metodološko arhivirana na spletni platformi Huxportal . Osrednji lik platforme je maček Huxtrl – „intermediološka“ osebnost in umetničin alter ego – ki z lucidno ironijo spremlja, beleži in analizira aktualne družbene fenomene.
Aphra Tesla svoj umetniški sistem razvija že od leta 2011 pod imenom Aphra Tesla Operating System , njegova najnovejša transformacija pa nosi naslov Operacijski sistem: transverzala si.zif .
Parfum Eau de Parfum: raum AU lahko razumemo kot nesnovni portret umetnika. Aphra Tesla se s tem subtilnim gestom poklanja delu in liku Pina Poggija. Kot Huxtrl tudi ona pristopa previdno, skoraj spoštljivo – zaveda se, da je atelje izjemno intimen prostor, varen pristan, v katerega nepoklicani nimajo vstopa.
Umetnik svoj atelje varuje, ker je to edini prostor, v katerem lahko ustvarja – prostor, kjer vsaka stvar nosi svojo funkcijo in pomen. Gre za hortus conclusus , zaprti vrt, posvečen kraj s svojim redom in notranjo logiko. Vse te podrobnosti sestavljajo sistem, ki je zrcalo umetnikovih misli in notranjega sveta. Atelje je kot prezbiterij v cerkvi – prostor, kjer je človek najbliže božanskemu. Kot Mojzes pred gorečim grmom. Atelje je simbolni avtoportret.
Na odprtju razstave se bo Aphra Tesla predstavila tudi svojo poezijo.
>> Aphra Tesla je slovenska umetnica, po kateri se imenuje štiriletna nagrada za intermedijske dosežke festivala Kiblix, BELI APHROID. Aphra Tesla je vizualna umetnica, pesnica, aktivistka, skladateljica, zvočna arhitektka in interdisciplinarna umetnica. Živi in dela v Mariboru, kjer deluje tudi v kontekstih Transnacionalne gverilske umetniške šole GT22.
>> Raziskovalna rezidenca Popotovanje po Arte Utile je nastala v sodelovanju nevladne organizacije v javnem interesu raum AU, Koroške galerije likovnih umetnosti in Ministrstva za kulturo Republike Slovenije.
Rezidenca je bila ustanovljena leta 2022, ko sta raziskovanje koncepta Arte Utile pričela Tadej Pogačar in Tobias Putrih. Leta 2023 sta se jima pridružila Vesna Bukovec in Ištvan Išt Huzjan, leto kasneje pa še Tomaž Furlan, Polonca Lovšin in Heinz Schutz. V letu 2025 delo Pina Poggija poglobljeno preučujeta Aphra Tesla in Marjetica Potrč.
Vsak umetnik oziroma raziskovalec v okviru rezidence razvije lastno interpretacijo Poggijevega opusa, ki jo zbere v spremljajočem zvezku. Tam so zbrani uvidi, podprti s fotografijami in dokumentacijo, do katerih se raziskovalec dokoplje skozi neposredno delo v Poggijevem ateljeju. Predstavitev raziskovalnih dognanj lahko presega pisno obliko in se razširi v razstavo, performans, branje, predavanje, koncert ali drug način interakcije z javnostjo.
Cilj rezidence je vzpostaviti odprt, nedovršen odnos med delom dveh umetnikov ali raziskovalcev. Posebna vrednost programa je v nepredvidljivosti raziskovalnega procesa, ki lahko vodi v nastanek povsem novega umetniškega dela.
Popotovanje po AU uvaja nov, hibriden model muzejsko-galerijske, kuratorske in umetniške prakse, s katerim znova prebujamo zanimanje za idejo Arte Utile in socialno estetiko – tako med strokovno kot širšo javnostjo. Tako kot je v okviru Poggijevega AU procesa utilist tisti, ki sproži idejo in z njo aktivira odziv občinstva, je tudi v širšem okviru naloga rezidence, da deluje kot primus agens – tisti, ki poda diagnozo in sproži umetniško refleksijo.
